Dogs

Lyric:  "People throw rocks at things that shine..." Ours by Taylor Swift.  (Super cute vid by the way)

Walking my neighbor's dog today, I enjoyed observing how Lilly explored EVERYTHING as if it was something new and exciting, even if it was just her own yard.  It got me thinking how we-me-tend to have the opposite attitude:  Things are novel for a while, but it seems we sometimes soon lose interest and kind of take whatever it is for granted.  Personally, this is something about me that I really don't like. So my aspiration: to be more like a dog in the sense of treating everything as if it is something new and exciting. i.e., appreciating what I have and utilizing it.

Quirkle:  I hate how my voice sounds on recordings

Thankfuls: Good Music

Actually this whole song is just fantastic; I reeeeaaaally want to see this performed.

:)

Lyric:

Some days I just love people.  For example the tuition lady at school is awesome.  Sick and miserable and still hilarious.  I must strive to be more like this!!!
So one of my new goals, and this may sound a bit  hokey, is to be moe in tune with myself.  See I told you! Gosh I sound like a hippie...but what I mean by this is really know and understand what I may think about a certain person, thing or idea and not let others dictate my opinion on the matter.  At the same time, I want to be open minded and willing to change my mind, but in a nutshell, bot let others biases determine if I like it or not.

Quirkle: Clutter irritates me, but I am NOT a neat freak at all...what?

Thankful for the Awesome People in my life

Lyric:  "I won't be afraid, No I won't be afraid, Just as long, as you stand, stand by me." Ben E. King

Alright I have some somberish thoughts but I'm going to try to add an upbeat/encouraging note as well so lets see what I can do.
Today I found out that one of my childhood friends has been missing for 3 days.  I don't talk to her anymore and haven't for a long time, but it's still frightening and very sobering.  Appreciate what you have and love those around you because there are no guarantees.  Hoping Leah is alright and remembering her...
Okey now to try for happier things...
Worked out for the 2nd day in a row....woah! x)
This is my optimist note:  All about optimistic people and how to become one!! Yes you can actually learn to be an optimist; fantastic I say!! http://www.sensophy.com/3-things-optimistic-people-do-differently/ (Psst I found this on polish-my-crown.com)

Snowwww is everywhere!!

Lyric: "Oh no I've said to much, I haven't said enough." Losing My Religion- R.E.M. but posted because of Dia Frampton's cover, which I am completely in love with.

Worked out at work today(the new job referenced in thankfuls) and man it is hard work!!   Is it weird that I am hoping I'll be sore tomorrow?? Solely for the reason that it will have meant that I worked out hard!!  If you want it you gotta work for it; Most definitely the truth.  And that is the base of my thought today:  That dream job, those rock hard abs, that dream guy, whatever you want to achieve, it isn't going to come for free and there's never a guarantee it will be easy.   But if you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to make it happen.  In the end, all the hard work and long hours you put in will make your accomplishment that much sweeter.  "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." -A Cinderella Story.  The fear of failure or rejection is always on our minds because everyone HATES the feeling that accompanies it.  But if we allow that fear to become the dominant emotion, we hold ourselves back from fantastic possibilities.

Run Run Run....Or that's what I need to do at least

Lyric:

Hm hm hm....well today I want to talk about the easiest way to a) beautify yourself, b)make others happier, c) make you happier and c) be a friendlier, more approachable person.  This wondrous trick? SMILE!  I noticed it today when we were at El Mezcal (See Bright Spots) when our waitress was serving us.  I'm sure she is a great lovely person, but the fact that I never saw her smile just made her seem down and unfriendly and unapproachable.  It made me reflect on how often do I walk around just frowning or looking unfriendly.  Now don't necessarily walk around grinning as widely as possible at all times of the day.  No that would make you look like a crazed serial killer.  But don't be afraid to smile at someone in the grocery store or when you are making conversation (if the topic is appropriate that is.) Bear those pearly whites! In a friendly non-frightening way that is... ;)

Post Thanksgiving and Thanksgivingness

Lyric: "And I'm Not Sure What This Is Gonna Be, But With My Eyes Closed All I See, Is The Skyline, Through The Window, With The Moon Above You And The Streets Below..." Parachute- Kiss Me Slowly

Thankgiving was faaantabulous!  The gang usually gathers at my families house for the feasting and this year was no exception!  It was defnitely a smaller crowd than usual, but definitely not complaining; I actually really enjoyed it that way!  Not that I don't love having the rest of my family there, it just seemed much more relaxed and close.

Since it was just Thanksgiving, I feel like I should do something about being thankful....But I don't want to be redundant since I do post "Thankfuls'" everyday.  So I'll just keep it short and sweet.
Be Thankful for:  The people and things you have, even when they drive you crazy!  You never know when everything could change so cherish it.
Life- You have it so be glad for it!  Even times are tough and miserable, be thankful that you have the chance to be alive.
Health:  You never know what you have until it's gone, and you never know when it can be snatched or altered so fill those lungs with air and be glad!
Dark Times: They make you stronger
Friends & Family- These support systems are what will help you through the bad times and enjoy with you the good times.
Chocolate- don't need a reason x)

Quirkle: Love to dress quirky and different but still VERY conscious of what others think about me

Turkey Day! Well Almost

"What do got if you ain't got love, Whatever you got, It just ain't enough..." Bon Jovi- If you ain't got love

Thoughts:  " Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events;small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt"  Great advice to keep in mind, myself definitely included.  Gossiping is petty and often
reflects more on you than the subject.  Venting is sometimes a must, I understand that but don't make every conversation about someone else and their faults.  As human's we all make mistakes, ourselves included. :)  It is now one of my goals to be more "large" minded ;)

"Bad" Mornings don't necessarily meant the rest of the day will be such

"And so lying underneath those stormy skies, She'd say, "I know the sun must set to rise," Paradise- Coldplay
So the morning was a bit hectic; half asleep to here Mom yelling, "Where are my keys?! And I am taking your car because you killed mine!"  Oh happy happy joy joy.  SO I finally get out the door and into the car I'm using,  running a bit behind as it is, and I have to stop to air up my tire.  With literally no time to spare, I jump in the car and get down the road about 1/4 of a mile and the gaslight turns on (I have a floating gas guage so it's impossible to tell how much gas I really have, but when the gas light turns on, it's time.)  Now living in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, there really aren't any gas stations on the way to the college so I am forced to turn around and get gas.  now about 10 minutes late to class, on the day we have a test, everything is just peachy.  And the test really didn't go fantastic.  It was definitely a fustrating morning for sure but thankfully it didn't ruin my day.  For whatever reason, it didn't out me in an angry funk, thank goodness.  I guess the moral of this story is, "You must control your mornings, don't let them control you!" x)
Coolest food idea EVER! (maybe a slight exaggeration)  Banana "Ice cream."  Best invention ever! Cut a banana(s) into slices and freeze.  When frozen, blend with milk (the more you add the less thick it will be)  and voila! low cal frozen dessert! Of course you can always add chocolate, peanutbutter and/or other guilty pleasures to make it a little more indulgent x).  Oh and the more ripe the banana. the more banana flavor it will have.

Ahhh I love the 90's! great era indeed x)

Well I decided I'm going to tie in today's topic with above song title;  I've heard it said that Love is looking past someones flaws and loving them for their faults, or despite those characteristics.  To me, that sounds like it could be a daunting task, but at the same time, I see the truth in it. People I love to have flaws but I love them either for it, or regardless. As humans we are bound to have flaws; it's inevitable.  BUT at the same time, it seems like the human in us is always seeking out others faults while bypassing our own.  Once we acknowledge this, we can in turn try to correct ourselves and and respect/love others in spite of the things that may seem undesirable to us.  Remembering that we are all unique for a reason also can help us respect others differences or faults.

I'm back!

Big Thank you to "farmermarvswife" for the reminder to stop slacking ;)
Sorry for the absenteeism!  I shall try to make a super fantastic post to make up for it...ha!

Lyric: We Are The Champions, My Friends, And We'll Keep On Fighting To The End..."  Queen- We are The Champions; in honor of the boys fantastic win on Thursday!  Awesome job guys!

Thoughts:  In light of my laziness in posting, the topic, in a nutshell, is suck it up!  Don't want to write that paper, no ambition for that quiz, no gumption to get out of bed; I shall lay here and admire the ceiling paint, etc.  We've all had this problem, I'm sure.  And while I don't think  this is a problem ON OCCASION, it is when it starts becoming an excuse.  Putting it off usually only adds to the dread and then the stress doubles when you try to accomplish it at the last minute.  So how to overcome this?  You can either a) just get up and do it or b) if you're the kind of person who needs motivation, try this:  Pick something you enjoy/want to do-go out; read that new book, spend hours on youtube or Pinterest, etc- and then don't allow yourself to do it until your chore/assignment is done.  It takes some willpower but with an incentive, you'll probably accomplish whatever it is faster than normal.  Another idea is to set a time limit (and an incentive! double bonus!)  This is excellent for those of us who are of the competitive sort!  Now to apply this to myself and clean my room....

Quirkle: I'm a firm believer that the only good coffee is the coffee that doesn't taste like coffee.

This could get interesting...

But All We Serve Are Empty Words, That Always Taste The Same" Nickelback, When We Stand Together

It could be an interesting week...I have agreed to let my brother choose my outfits for the week.  :O  This is quite terrifying for me!!While his ensembles really aren't bad , he doesn't seem to realize that it's mid-November...As a result, I have picked out his  outfits for the next few days to somewhat mimic mine, in terms of warmth.  For example on the day he is having me where a shorter dress with open toed shoes, he is wearing shorts and sandals.  I'm going to try to convince him to at least consider allowing some leggings!  Then he can wear pants :P  I will post pictures, so brace yon selves!

Thoughts of the Day:  See song lyric!  When you say something, mean it and follow through.  It gives you more credibility and people will have a greater respect for your words.  Also, in terms of getting together or meeting people, being there when you say you will be shows that you are responsible and respect other people's time.  This is definitely a valuable lesson for myself as well!

A day of nothing...ahhhh....Or something

"But Who Am I To Tell Fate Where It's 'Sposed To Go"  Colbie Callait Brighter Than The Sun

Well I shouldn't say nothing; We threw wood for a few hours today.  But it still felt just kind of lazy and laid back.  Also my highschool is going to state for football!! Very exciting indeed x)
Technology taking over....my life it seems at least.  And it seems to have some effects I'm not entirely happy with:  I'm less patient-which I didn't think possible- I have less of an attention span, and honestly I feel less intelligent! So  one of my goals for Nov. is to disconnect a bit.  Read more and do something creative and/or brain challenging.  This could be a bit tough since I'm a bit addicted to Facebook and Pinterest BUT I shall do this! I must! x)

"This city, is my city, and I love it, And I love it"  My City Patrick Stump ft. Lupe Fiasco
Sick again! what is this bogus?! okey rant over
The song lyric seems a bit random I know but all shall be explained in about 2 seconds...Where I grew up is a very teeny-tiny dot of a town, the kind that if you blink you'd miss it.  People were always complaining about how boring it is, how it's so horrible, etc.  While there are definitely days that I'll agree, and about drop dead out of boredom, I've come to appreciate this little blip of a village; people know who I am, on a first name basis, there's a grocery store for the basics, a library, it's a nice place for a run, bike, etc, and it's just kind of cozy feeling.  I find that as I continue to grow up bit by bit, how unique a small town life can be.  You don't get the same treatment, or feeling, from a bigger city.  Obviously there are always disadvantages-limited opportunities, everyone knowing your life story, and such- but as of now, I'm kind of thankful for my tiny town :)

My lovelovelove for Harry Potter revealed, and thought provoking questions ;O

Words are like weapons they wound sometimes If I Could Turn Back Time-Cher

Got sick last night so I didn't post; sad i know.

It was a good day! hurrah! so since i didn't post yesterday,  As a result, I'm going to kind of mash yesterday with today a bit...
So Geek Moment of the day: At the college I attend, we had a comedian by the name of Jim Tavare. Said comedian also happened to play a minor role in Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban.  I of course geeked out and after the show asked him for his autograph, requesting it signed as Tom the Innkeeper!  I was giddier than a kid on red bull in Toys R' Us!  Talk about having wings!!
Thought of day(s):  If tomorrow you were judged by today's actions alone, how would you measure up?  Yeesh that sounds heavy...but it's important to think about.  People are almost always watching what you do, whether you realize it or not: what kind of example are you setting?  Are you being someone YOU would want to be like?  Now I'm not saying, "You must be perfect and live in a little bubble."  Not at all!   Have fun, but be mindful of who you are/may be impacting! Okey less thought provoking...

Quirkle:  Love to read...and yes the book is almost ALWAYS better than the movie.

Thank you's, Careers. and giving a bit of yourself...literally x)

And I've Come To Know That The World Won't Change Just 'Cause I Complain Let The Axis Twirl I'm a Happy Girl
Since I consider music kind of a big part of me and my life, I'm thinking I'm going to have a sub-header of each post that's a song lyric that I've heard or appreciated.  So today's sub is brought to you by Martina McBride's "Happy Girl!"

Donated blood today!  In light of that, I though it would be appropriate to give a biiiiig thank you to those who have a love for what they do in the medical field because I for one could NOT hack it.  I'll stick to clothing and such thank you.  On that note, second thought of the day: when you are choosing a career, MAKE SURE it's absolutely something you want.  Make it worth the time and money you spend on earning your degree or certification.  With that said, if you find it's not all as enjoyable as you thought, don't be afraid to change and explore your options.  I had a friend in high school, that since kindergarten, knew he wanted to be a paleontologist.  Then out of the blue senior year, he came up to me and told me he had changed his mind..While it was a complete shock to me, it goes to show that it's never to late to change your mind.

Life Lessons from Blink-182

"Give me one good reason why we need to be like them"  Ah good ol' Blink-182.  Couldn't have said it any better myself..
Why do we constantly feel the need to be like that one person, or change ourselves to fit a specific mind set? We weren't made to be all the same, yet we try to be.  You are your own individual, don't lose that trying to be someone else.   The most well liked people are those comfortable in their own skin and embrace their quirks wholeheartedly.  Take a step back and find out who you really are, what YOU really enjoy, without fearing what others may think. This is a challenge to you, as well as to myself, as I tend to have a bad habit of putting a little to much stock into others opinions about me.
In honor of this I'll be adding a daily "Quirkles" section, listing something; a quirk, or interests that may not be the most popular or just something I find unique about myself.  While it's not the most comfortable thing, I feel it's important for me to do in order to let go of my fear of others judgements.
Without further ado, the first Quirkle!

Quirkle:  I am a Twihard, through and through! Whew finally got that out in the open x)

Thankfuls: Supermarkets that have fresh vegetables and the like
Blink 182
Friends that love bacon as much as I do

Bright Spots:  Getting invited for burgers!! Although, sadly, silly accounting prohibited me from joining, bleah.
Post about bacon on my facebook!

Day One....this should be interesting

Starting a blog sounded super appealing so I decided, "Heck, why not?!"  So warning ahead of time, this may be a little rough...
What this blog is about:  Well as you may imagine from the title, it's kind of covering EVERYTHING, from fashion to recipes, to tips and thoughts/ideas.  There will probably even be *gasp* pictures! Which just makes everything more exciting.
Things that will be constant are "Thankfuls'" and "Bright Spots."  Bright Spots are just little things that made my day and Thankfuls....self explanatory.  Things will probably change a bit once I get into the swing of things but it's going to be a choppy start so hang tight!

My newest addiction: Pinterest! Basically it's an online pin-board where you "pin" various postings or images to different "boards you've created, each with a different catergory.  For example, I have a "Inspirational & Wisdomosity" board that contains various quotes or advice that I enjoy. Warning though, it's extremely addictive, moreso than even...do I dare say it...Facebook!! :O

Thankfuls:
Understanding friends
Reminders of what's important
Laughter
Popcorn

Bright Spots:
My brother's weird antics, including, but not limited to, slapping each other and fascination with carwashes.
Cleaning my room/making my bed (MAJOR achievement)
Encouragement
